How Agile is your mobile App?

I bet not at all!

Agile development is at the heart of SaaS offerings. Core to the SaaS service is updates without downloads and user update hassles. The second is online availability which today means deliverer to various devices. I am amazed at how many SaaS offerings do not have a clear Mobile device and connectivity strategy.

SaaS companies tend to deliver great services but see their responsibility demark at their web servers! Yes access to the web is the users responsibility but the SaaS provider needs to be accountable for enabling any device the customer chooses. Marketing for SaaS needs to recognize that customer and engage them in the best way possible.

I am amazed at how many SaaS marketing teams work only on SEM SEO levels. Time to Step up folks there is more to the game. Customer Satisfaction, customer experience and customer data are still responsibilities.  If you and your team build mobile Apps that do not evolve as fast as your online experience you are cheating customers out of what they can do with your service.

The disconnect is Clear! SaaS services change weekly and your connection strategies need to also.  Web Services Apps for mobile need to be tied to the entirety of your PC experience. This is one of the core value propositions of5o9. Each change to your website is a changed in your mobile experience.

Today we see realistic numbers that show mobile web access out growing PC access. The question is:

Have you planned for an Agile Web Services strategy for mobile? Does it mach your PC strategy today?

Mobile, More than Advertising

Is your web service all about advertising or are you providing value to the users? Reading on new mobile technologies it is clear that many see mobile advertising with context (who, what, where) is the next frontier.

What does this do for Mobile services that are paid, to customers, or within the enterprise? Contrary to many  comments and spin there is only one “Web” we all use it for commerce of all types and information. The browser is the universal presentation layer and 5o9 works on that presentation layer to deliver content based the device, the user and other data that the user and service provider agree to share.

Yes what they agree to share! A service provider can deliver levels of service if they know more about a customer and a customer in the 5o9 solution decides what to share by service. The easy example is Location, the customer decides if they want to share their location with a service and can control that by interaction of globally for that service provider. This can be extended to any data and that data can be encrypted of not.

Interesting enough this capability is driving new thinking by marketers. We have accepted many compromises in exploration of the web on handheld devices but things are changing. Go to any tech blog and read about new standards evolving, new features, App stores… All have strengths and weaknesses but all require new skills from developers or IT departments. 5o9 does not!

You have invested time and money into a single App or a web service now it is time to extend that effort and begin to take incremental steps to delivering a richer more rewarding experience for you and your customer!
